I think that the alternative technology User Agents know the difference between ACRONYM and ABBR, and since 
these assistive technologies are used by the visually impaired, using the correct element should be important, meaning 
ACRONYM should be used for acronyms and ABBR should be used for abbreviations.

As Liz has clearly defined both these terms, I won't reiterate.
