Hello everyone:

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Jen, and I am one of the
List Guides for the basics email lists. The recent thread entitled "SUBJ:
HTML Differences - Details) caught my attention for a very good reason -
some of the posts have contained pricing information.

While the discussion in this thread has been very interesting and within the
charter of the list, I would like to remind the readers of one of the
actionable rules: Pricing discussions are not allowed on the HTML Writers
Guild's mailing lists. In this context, "pricing" refers to any mention of
monetary figures related to what companies or individuals charge, or may
charge, for their services, products, time, or expertise related to web
design. The thread itself is fine, but those that wish to post on this
subject must refrain from posting pricing information, or quoting sections
of previous posts that contain pricing information. There have been several
posts that have violated this rule so far.

While I realise you all are attempting to hand out some very useful
information, the Guild has very strict rules regarding the pricing of
internet services. This policy is based on legal advice that has been
provided to the Guild.

Further information regarding the Guild's pricing policy can be found at:

  http://www.hwg.org/resources/faqs/priceFAQ.html

Hypothetical amounts like $x and $XX are quite acceptable, and may help you
get your point across in the same way as using the actual figures.

While you are looking at the Guild website, it might also pay to review the
Guild's Actionable Rules.

  http://www.hwg.org/lists/rules.html

Adherence to the Guild's rules is expected of anyone who participating on
the Guild lists. We ask that all members become familiar with the rules as
continued failure to abide by them may result in removal from the lists.

If you have any questions contact the List Guides at lg-basics(at)hwg.org.
Thanks, in advance, for your cooperation.

Have a nice evening.

Jen
