I suspect that the reason why you were advised to use Dreamweaver is
that it is possible to use the ftp connection.

I use this sometimes at home and find that all the settings save
properly so that I can go back and use that site name without any
problems.

I use the same program on a different network at university and it
drives me nuts as I have to re-enter all the settings each time I use
the ftp connection. It's no joke redefining the site every time you want
to reconnect.

You may find that if you are using the same equipment as your
predecessor that the settings are all there ready to make the connection
required to download them. Click on open site in the site menu to see
what sites have been defined by Dreamweaver on that computer. You may
just hit lucky and find what you need.
