Hello everyone:

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Jen, and I am one of the List
Guides for the HWG Basics list. The recent thread entitled "Re: Off topic
but what JMJ means" is not useful discussion in the least, has been highly
offensive to many members, and is utterly off topic for this list.

Religious discussions do not fall under the HWG-Basics charter, no matter
how you look at it. This list is for discussing th basics of HTML coding,
which although a broad topic, does not include some things.

I direct the membership's attention to the following documents for your
reference and perusal:

Actionable Rules:;
Netiquette Guidelines:;
HWG Basics Charter:;

This thread should no longer be discussed publicly on HWG Basics. Please
take the discussion to private email. I would also ask members of the list
to really consider whether or not posts and responses that they want to post
to the list are really on-topic - Basics is a very high traffic list, and
many readers get frustrated with a high number of off-topic and inflammatory
posts. Please also try and keep your tempers under control - I realize it
can be difficult (believe me :), but snarky flames and retorts accomplish
nothing useful here.

Please take a look at the documents listed above, to refresh your memory as
to appropriate topics and behaviour on the lists. If you have questions or
concerns, you can reach the list guides at lg-basics(at) Thank you, in
advance, for your cooperation!

Have a relaxing evening.
