visited links color

Does anyone know how (on your computer) to set the "expiration time" for
visited links, i.e. the time span that they continue in the vlink color?

I don't see it in either the Windows settings or IE settings.

My visited links last forever in the vlink color, so that when I'm designing
a site, I'm always seeing the links in that color instead of the link color,
which I think is not how my site visitors will be seeing it.
