Getting Started

Hi everybody,

I'm just wondering how all of you got started in finding customers for your
web design businesses.  Did people find you mostly through search engines?
Through local advertising?  Through word of mouth (and if so how did this
get started)? Or through something else?

I'm still pretty much a beginner, but I can easily design a basic website
and am charging very little for it.  The problem is no one I know wants a
website or knows anyone who does.  Thanks in advance.
