I couldn't do without my Netscape 4.7, 6.0 and Opera 5. I generally only
use them for testing pages, but they are free. I live in the heart of Bill
Gates country, and many of my fellow web students have decided to throw in
the towel and design only for IE. Even students at the university level.
One student has a site that he knows crashes Netscape browsers, and he's
just decided not to care about it. As you start doing sites for clients,
you find that either they might have Netscape or someone they know has
Netscape, and you might as well throw in the towel and do your best with
Netscape.

I think that when it takes extra effort to have pages display adequately in
all browsers, it is easy for people to convince themselves it isn't
necessary. I myself have chosen where to draw the battle lines on what I'm
going to design for and what I'm not going to fret about. And that might
not be the same line that another person draws.
