Inserting .wav files

Hi Folks:
I haven't written in a while...but I need some help.  I'm putting together a
fun site and I have created a bunch of .wav files that I want to play when
certain objects are moused over or clicked on.  Is there a simple way to do
this?  I do not want any digital player to come up on the screen.  I just
want the sound to play when an object is clicked.
