Hi Margreta,

I've set it up a few times. The archive may look flat when you open it and
look inside, but extracting the files to your hard drive should result in a
directory tree.

Check with your host - it's possible that you may need to set permissions on
your PHP scripts to make them executable, although this is rare (at least on
*nix servers - I don't know about Windows). Also remember to set your
config files and their parent directories to be to be writable. The
instructions for this are in the documentation that comes with the app.

It really is an easy install. Here's the steps:

1) Unzip it locally and read the instructions(!)

2) Upload the directory tree you got in step #1.

(Note: alternatively, you could move the archive to the server and open it
there if you have that skill)

3) Set your config file to be writable per the directions in the
documentation.

4) Browse to the admin page and begin answering questions.

If you can ask someone who has installed it on your server, that would be
even better. They may know of some peculiarity in the configuration and
save you time.

I'm having the worst time trying to install this BB. All of the comments in
the KBase for my domain host by people who installed it go on about how easy
it great it is - but I can't even get the admin page to set it up to open, I
keep getting a 403 (Forbidden) error.

I'm having some doubts that I have the whole program, it says to preserve
the directory structure when uploaded into the domain, but the zip is flat,
and there are no specs on the phpBB site on how the directories should look
once installed. I was wondering if anyone has set up this board and might be
able to tell me what they think the problem is.
