video clips

Hi

This may not be the appropriate list for this question - if so, could
someone please point me to the appropriate one?

I have a new client who runs a video production company (equestrian
videos). They want a website which will include 5 or 6 video clips of
their work. I envision links to files that could be viewed with
RealPlayer (since visitors can download it for free). However, I haven't
a clue as to how to convert raw video into files that RealPlayer can
use. I don't even know how to ask the client for a specific format (?)
for the video in the first place.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Either to EASY software
(probably not feasible) or to a company that does this sort of thing or
can any of you do this?
