To all:

A lady on this list, who shall remain nameless, asked for assistance in
setting up a small e-commerce site. She is concerned with both her ability
to do this and the cost involved. She tells me she is too shy to ask the
list. (A problem that obviously has never bothered me. Tongue in cheek grin)

I suggested that one possibility was to use one of the so-called full
service venders that basically give you a code to add to the items on your
page. Then when someone clicks on the purchase button, they are taken to the
vender's secure site to make the credit card purchase. This saves the small
business person the need for secure servers and a merchant account.

Two questions:

1. What are your recommendations for this type of service and which venders
have you had experience with?

2. What other alternatives would you suggest--remembering the lady's concern
over complicated code, cost of merchant account, etc.

I'm sure she will appreciate all suggestions and for that matter, so would
I.

Best wishes
