Also covering the question about "Nested lists in Strict validation"

I made up a quick example that has a nested unordered list and a link that
opens in an external window (as long as the browser has javascript enabled).
It validates to XHTML1 strict.  Browsers without javascript will just load
the page in the existing window.

To addres some of the comments made:

1. Nested lists are fine if properly coded.

2. End tags are mandatory in XHTML

3.  Optional closing tags

Some browsers have trouble when optional)end tags are left off in HTML too.
Try leaving out some closing tags for table cells and rows - if memory
serves me right, some versions of Netscape 4 refused to display the (by its
rules) incomplete table.  (But I could be mistaken)
