Yes, they are indeed in a data cell, but the cell is not the same dimensions
(it is wider).

No, this is an site that was done about 2 1/2 years ago.  There is no
doctype specified for it (which I wouldn't dare leave out on sites that we
do now).  There is no doctype that I know of that should cause this problem
though...

I DO use them, but not on this particular site.  The style sheet that is
used is local (contained in the html document itself).

The ACSLABS.gif on the left should have 2 more images above it.  They work
fine in Netscape.  What is odd is that the image code exists in the html
file, but if I view the source code of the page, the link tags are there,
but there is no <img> tag at all between the opening and closing <a> tags...

:-(         ... huh???
