It's the user's choice, as all the browsers I can remember within reasonably
recent history allow the user to change the default background color.

I have been using CSS for all my styles and colors. The other day I
remembered that old browsers have a default gray background color. I began
to wonder if using the 'bgcolor' color attribute in the BODY tag is
necessary to accommodate for these out dated browsers, and wanted to get
other web designers' opinions.

In a way I feel I shouldn't have to trouble myself just to accommodate for
people using decade-old browsers. I also feel that anybody using a such
browser is probably used to the gray background color they would see on a
lot of websites. I know IE3 has a gray background, but I believe it supports
enough CSS to get the color from the style sheet. What other browsers have a
default gray background? All versions of IE before v4? What about Netscape
and/or other brands?
