Has anyone ever made use of imagemagick for
dynamically creating thumbnails from images in a
directory? I'd like to use the convert utility with
my PHP/MySql gallery. I downloaded all the Image
Magick files which amount to about 1 1/2 megs. Do I
need to upload all of these files to my server? I
tried uploading just the convert, but it obviously
needs more to function.
TIA, Fran
Hi Fran,
A simple answer is probably not, depending on what 'convert' utility you're
talking about. Probably not all of them are needed, but only a select few,
but those few will probably need to be compiled for your specific server
platform.
The ImageMagik graphic utilities are similar to the NetPBM open source
graphic utilities, which are required on the server for this nice PHP Photo
Gallery application:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gallery/
-- a nice alternative to what you may be using now.
Best,
Stephen
