Thanks to Bert and Kym for the help- problem is now at least identified.
Bert was spot on with his diagnosis and advice, for which I am very, very
grateful. I have certainly now learnt my lesson with regards to uploading
sites myself, for reasons which will soon become evident...

Having been able to take a look at a few pages I am now kinda glad it isn't
working because it's looking like a bit of a dog's dinner. I suspect the guy
we did it for has been faffing with it in an editor (there are now generator
meta-tags appearing in my hand coded HTML <grr>).

Ignoring this, I now (surprise, surprise) have another couple of queries:

1. There *is* an Index.htm file in the directory. Should I rename it to
index.html or Index.html or even Index.htm? What exactly is the server
looking for?

2. If you proceed from www.wyvernhotel.co.uk/Index.htm to the "Rates"
section we discover that one of the images doesn't appear. Is there any
explanation for its absence other than the file not having been uploaded?
I've checked the url and it should be correct.

...and I know that the side navigation bar (including my wonderful pulsating
starfish) doesn't work. Somehow (!) the url has been changed.

I know this isn't the critique forum, but any other comments would also be
appreciated if anyone has any (see proviso below).

-Matt :o)

PS:

Apologies for the length of this query.

PPS:

Please, if you take a look at the code, turn a blind eye to *most* of the
simple mistakes I've made. The current version of the site is coded a lot
more cleanly. In general I know about technical mistakes already- including
the fact that the contact form doesn't work: I've (hopefully) fixed it with
CGI from Matt's script archive.

I would also like to add that we know this client very, very well and that I
wouldn't even think about operating like this with anyone else. We're
learning on people we can trust here.
