But slowly. Help is on the way slowly.

I just learned that

a) CSS2 includes a style that does exactly what I want: position:
fixed. A DIV with that style will stay at the coordinates you set, in
releation to the "view port", regardless of your scrolling. You can
make imitation frames this way, except that

b) According to RichInStyle, NN & IE 4.x do not support position:
fixed. I know for certain that NN 4.76 for Mac does not. 

(and don't bother telling me that NN 4.76 for Mac doesn't have the
market share to be relevant. :-)  If it don't work on NN4.76/Mac, I
ain't using it!)

<sigh!> BUT... help is on the way. Just a few more years for these
version 4 browsers to die off...
