Opera and CSS/DOM compliance

I have recently discovered (to my dismay) that to date
Opera 5 does not support scripting the "display"
property of an element, thus it is unavailable for
DHTML purposes.  Does anyone know why or if/when they
plan on implementing support for the "display"
property?
