Image Magick convert utility with PHP gallery

Has anyone ever made use of imagemagick for
dynamically creating thumbnails from images in a
directory?  I'd like to use the convert utility with
my PHP/MySql gallery.  I downloaded all the Image
Magick files which amount to about 1 1/2 megs.  Do I
need to upload all of these files to my server?  I
tried uploading just the convert, but it obviously
needs more to function.
