Ray,
The margin attributes for the body element are MSIE Specific.
<.!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//Microsoft//DTD Internet Explorer 3.0 HTML//EN">
is one DTD that supports them.
I have to say, I have had very little luck ignoring elements that didn't
pass muster (validate under a given DTD).
Please remember it was ~not~ me that said the DTD is a *required* element.
It was not me that said the browser uses the DTD to help display a given
page reliably and consistently. It was not me that said if you don't - the
page will not display reliably or predictably.
It was two other folks: The W3 (builds languages the browser folks use to
make their software work) and the Browser Folks who build software based
(albeit sometimes loosely) on the W3 standards.
Now . . . if you choose to believe that *neither* of those folks are
telling you the truth, by all means, ignore validation errors.
HTH,
Fuzzy.
