We Just purchased a Sony Mavica MVC-FD73, and I would suggest spending
the extra money to get the FD-83.
The problem with these cameras is while we *thought* the prices would
come down, instead the quality (and the prices) have gone up.
Any camera with a good lens and 2.xM resolution ought to to what you
want, and the more resolution you can afford to buy, the better quality
you will obtain.

The reason we went with the Sony is because of its use of floppy disks,
which means that several people may use the camera, and just drop the
disk into their own computers. The other cameras with their "memory
cards" or "memory sticks" look good until you factor in
the cost of additional memory. Floppy Disks are cheap.

While I am somewhat disappointed in the resolution of the FD73, it is
more than adequate for web-based applications, and for the kinds of work
that we envisioned using it for when we purchased it.

With the great improvements in digital resolution, we are now seeing
Kodak Digital cameras being built on Nikon and Canon camera frames, and
the prices running into the high four digit range.
I'd suggest the Sony Mavica, model MVC-FD83. Very good camera which
you can
find for around $500 if you shop around. Found it on sale a while
back, and
with shipping and tax pain $600. Should be around $500 by
now. Interested
to see what others suggest.
