Hi All,
I hope this isn't too far off topic for this list as it involves computers,
but not necessarily the net. My brother is an independent
videographer. He has done work for a company for several years taping
dance competitions. The deal, as I understand it, was that my brother
showed up at the competitions all over the country at his own expense. He
then videoed the competitions and sold whatever tapes he could to the
participants. The company he was working for guaranteed him nothing. The
business relationship is now going sour for a number of reasons and the
owner of the company is demanding all of the master videos.
My brother's stand is that the videos are no different than a
photographer's work and is therefore my brother is protected under
copyright laws. The company is saying that this was not an implied right
and that my brother should have given "full disclosure".
Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kef
