*cough*...<mounting soapbox>
Yes, you see an Australian address and yes, I was educated in using English
grammar, but having lived in the US I'm am well acquainted with "y'all",
"gonna" and all that good stuff and love it with a passion. Dang! I'm
surprised I can still compose a sentence straight LOL.
We're not talking about language here, we're talking about punctuation and
in the case cited by Laura, she's correct. Why do I care ?...simply because
I would like the folks who visit my site, to know that I have a good grip
on the English language. How can you write copy for someone, if you don't
know where to put a comma, insert an exclamation point ?
What you write on your site tells your or your client's story, it either
sells them on your company or it drives them away and if it's peppered with
literals and incorrect punctuation, forcing them to read a sentence three
times to make sense of it, you've lost them.
I'm sorry, but the rules of grammar are the rules of grammar and they will,
for me, rule until the day I drop dead.
....and *never* rely on a spellchecker either ...spellcheckers might be
able to spell, they don't read :)
