Yes sir, he meant what he wrote. NN v.4 does have some problems with 
certain background images and I can't remember now if it was gif or jpg 
that NN preferred.

Otherwise, yup, externals work.

Generally, I use an external style sheet and then put the body background 
image in the body tag -- you know, the *old-fashioned* way.
