Text size getting smaller in IE

I'm very embarrassed that I have not been able to find the answer to this problem on my own.  But I have searched IE help, hwg archives, and other resources for several weeks to no avail.  I have Explorer 5.5 on one of my computers and every time I go online the text size resets itself to the smallest setting and I have to manually reset it.  I have set the font in the options but can find no settings to keep the size at medium.  I'm sure there's a simple solution.  Anybody know what it is?
