domain name purchase

Hi All,

I've been trying to buy a domain name for my client that has expired with the approval of the previous owner and it's still recorded as being owned by that person although the expiration date was the 28th of Nov. I know you have to wait 24 hours but now it's been a week. Has anyone else experienced this? I've written internic but no response. Here is the info:

Record last updated on 28-Nov-2000.
Record expires on 28-Nov-2001.
Record created on 28-Nov-2000.
Database last updated on 3-Dec-2001 23:13:00 EST.
