Hi Jim,

>about a month ago I submitted my site to dozens of different Search engine
sites but still can't find it when I search for it.

It often takes more than a month to get listed and also several attempts before they will accept your site so don't give up.

I would research each engine's preferences because they are all different, i.e., not all of them use meta tags. And then you need to get other sites linking to yours before trying to get listed on search engines as a lot of engines are relying on link popularity now before even listing a site. Also your site has to be very well designed and have no major problems with the code. Have you validated your page?

I would focus on Yahoo and Open Directory Project first and then go for the others. ODP supplys Netscape, AOL, and several others.

Google is my favorite search engine and most all my sites get listed first in their categories--but they tend to rely on link popularity.

I have written an article called "Low Cost Search Engine Ranking
and Optimization Tips" you may find helpful.
