Using the DIV tag (thanks Bill Hagerty)

I used the <DIV> tag to re-write script generated by Frontpage and saved over 
1k on a page (was 5k now under 4k) a 20% saving! not bad from one tag - I've 
just thought the site is over a hundred pages (gulp!) 

Question:
Using <div align="center"> before or right after a <table> tag will not 
center all the cell data, I have to use <tr align="center">.

I also tried <span> and this didn't work either.

Can I use a tag for all the Table, like using <div> for a large section of 
text?
