You do not know how very helpful your question really is to me.  I have a
Mac and do my html with BBEdit. I type the pages and use copy/paste.  In
the very near future I will actually be teaching how to do html on machines
with Windows 98.  You aren't the only one in a fog, here!
Obviously I'm going to have a struggle.  Terrible to feel so confident with
web pages and then suddenly at a complete loss.  I hope this conversation
lasts a while.    I feel like my learning curve has just gone flat.
