Hi,
First of all a lot more depends upon the monitor that each of those
computers is using. What can look splendid in millions of colors, no
matter what platform, can look poorer on a computer that only uses 256
colors. Check those computers and monitors first to see if they are
comparable.

Next, why don't you work with TIFF format? I think both platforms can
handle it. Then change it to a jpg (JPEG). Once you have saved something
to GIF or jpg it is already compressed and saving it in another format
whether GIF to jpg or jpg to GIF it is compressed further.

Just my 2 cents. I work with both platforms now and haven't had the
problem you talk about. I don't think it is a matter of PC or Mac.
