Hello,
I think this topic is very relavent to writing web pages. As others have
pointed out content is such a major part of successful html and text is
part of context.

Well, I do believe there is a need for more concern for spelling and
grammar on web pages and in email but I can think of two other possible
reasons for what appear to be poorly written English. For one, typing
skills and not editing one's work and the fact that many people on the www
are bi- or multi-lingual.

Some email lists I'm on are receiving email from so many other countries
and the English is such a decent attempt to participate. In fact I find it
admirable. I know no other language myself.

At least I do welcome web surfers who email me if they see an error. I use
to send my own Red Pencil Alerts because misspellings bother me so:-)

My sister was never one to write letters often because she was such a poor
speller. Now with email and a spell checker she has gained much
confidence and her skills continue to improve. So this technology can
become a valuable classroom for many?

I'm optimistic it is.
