Hello everyone

I'm having trouble with a jpg: it is appearing on a slightly paler
background in IE 4.01 for the Mac, even though I made certain that I used
exactly the same colour for both the image background (RGB 153 153 204) and
for the page background (#9999cc). The jpg is saved using low compression.
Oddly, there is no problem in Netscape Communicator 4.5, also for the Mac.
It appears therein exactly as I intended. (On the other hand, a different
jpg image appears in Netscape with a darker background.)

I have the same problem with the tiled background image I'm using for the
lower of two frames in some of the pages, using a faded version of the
image against what should be the same background colour. The top frame,
which is the plain background colour, appears as darker, again with the
paler backgrounds to the images, and it looks terrible.

When I open up the image again in Photoshop and check the background
colour, it appears inexplicably as 153 153 205. Surely this isn't
significant enough to cause that dark/light discrepancy? There is no
visible difference in Photoshop.

Can anyone please help? I need to try to get these pages up by the end of
the weekend... If you could reply to me personally that would be very
helpful as I get the digest version of the list.

Thank you.

Now seeing darker blocks all over the place... even in Eudora. Time for
bed, methinks...
