Hi all,

My intent here is not to advertise, but rather to address the question from
an insiders point of view.

With the recent ICANN regulation changes, it has made it possible for anyone
to become a domain registrar provided the one has the time, modest amount of
$ and the technical skills to set up the necessary database and domain
processing tools required.

We have recently joined the ranks of what you call "cheap domain
registrars", a project that took about a month to research and implement.

Cheap is not the word I would want to use only because it implies lack of
value. Again, with all the recent deregulation, and InterNIC being forced to
share the (necessary) common database, there is good value to be had.

I would not be unreasonable for people to want to email the tech contacts
and inquire about who will OWN the domain, who will be put as the Admin and
technical contacts and what system would one use to administer domain
details after being registered.

The bottom line is that domain registering is not THAT complicated.
Ultimately, just another database entry. However, you may want to ask some
of the more subtle questions before registering.
