Thanks, Heather and Gil, for your comments and I'll be sure to relay the
essence of them to the business owner. Along with resource material that
I've provided to them, I think they'll have a solid knowledge base on which
to make a decision. In my mind, it never makes sense to make an expenditure
that cannot be recovered within the estimated lifetime of that expense (ie.
the 3 to 5 years), beit short term financial gains, gains in long term
reputation, or a combination of both. In this case at this time, I don't
think the costs of an in-house server could be recovered within its
lifetime. Another year or two down the road might be a different story,
particularly if they wish to move towards self-hosting their site.
