Hi Walter,

You have made a fairly large website for your first website.
Personally, I do not care for the animated GIFs they are distracting. Also
the use of a background can be nice, but also makes for difficult reading. I
have a love-hate relationship with backgrounds: I have used them, and
sometimes wish I didn't. Some worked well. The screen is too wide for lines
of text, on my site we only use part of the screen for text, and then leave
the rest blank if we must. Narrow columns seem to be easier to read, even in
a smaller typeface. Your type sizes are adequate. I would not use the
underline unless it was for links. People will start looking for links when
all you have done is underline the text. This makes a page more difficult to
read. Some nicer navigation would help too.

I think that you are conveying your information clearly, but the GIFs and
some of the layout is distracting.

Since you have made a website for a church, I have taken time to answer you
with some simple comments, for I too, have a "church" website, and perhaps
share the difficulty of having to do some of the work with a committee. (our
site is http://www.assumptionabbey.com). I am planning a large update of it
very shortly. When that is done I will post it to this list for criticism.

Keep up the good work!

Br. Elias Thienpont, OSB
