System stats:
windowsME, 350 Amd chip, 196 megs of ram, 12mb graphics card, 17inch monitor
@ 800x600 res, and a 56k modem, the browser is IE 5.5, My connection speed
at time of viewing is approx 52k on a normal BT line.
I'm not very technical when reviewing, I apologise.
The Frontpage loads up very quickly, and I like the color scheme, never been
a fan of grey, but on this particular site it works well. My attention is
drawn to the center section, (not only because its Harry Connick Jnr) I've
read that and I'm now on my way to scrolling down to the top of the page.
Its very interesting so far, I'm not looking at the site and thinking "Which
bit shall I look at first", I'm not getting a headache from all the content
smacking me around the head with a wet kipper, trying to grab my attention
first.
The main logo at the top of the page, the American Way is very visible, but
the black text on top and beneath is on the small slide, and blurred. To be
honest, I couldn't really make out what the words were.
The middle section is particularly eye catching. I like the way that the
colour of the text reflects the border of the pictures, and to me on a
visual
basis it's very appealing. I'm not sure whether you have used a different
font, or whether the size is reduced but the affect is enticing, and grabs
your attention. Would thing that I think you could perhaps include is alt
tags for the, travel, lifestyle, business and in each issues section. I know
that the titles of each section are above, but when I moved my mouse over it
I felt that something was missing, something that I was expecting to see.
Just a very small, minor thing I know.
I'm now trying some of the other pages, and the affect that you have
achieved with the main page is maintained on them.
All on in all, I'm extremely impressed by the color schemes, fast loading
times and content. It's well organised, slick and neat. Well done!
