Hello all,

Thanks for all the replies to date. A few HARD LESSONS LEARNED. I had some
severe html errors on the page which I traced down to having TOO COMPLEX an
update system causing me to have the SAME FILENAMES in different locations
in different states of repair and this coupled with a few "smart" features
with my editor caused things to get jumbled up.

The Lesson:-
1) KEEP IT SIMPLE.
2) ALWAYS use a "DIFFERENT FILENAME" CONVENTION to store earlier versions
of the same file.

So far though no one has actually used the service to see the results, I
would appreciate it if someone could insert the code which points to the
tracking service into their html and give comment on the results which will
arrive in the email the following day.

I was able to monitor the page loads and referrals to the joinstats page
itself though, which was useful for me but I'de much prefer someone elses
view.

the site is at:-

http://nzsc.virtualave.net/joinstats.html

Also does anyone know a BETTER way of obtaining the Referrer of a REMOTE
page?
at the moment I am simply using the <img> tag to point to the cgi script and
provide the referrer using javascript's document.referrer.

Thanks
Peter Newton

went there and got a 500 internal server misconfiguration when I tried to
sign
up.

The layout is straightforward and simple, though perhaps a bit TOO
straightforward and simple for my taste. It could use a bit of retuning, in
my
opinion, to make it look sexier. Also it's a very cool service, so you might
want to state which stats you'll send, and a bit about why you're doing
this!

Look forward to seeing the final version!!!
