Roberta,

Yours is a personal web site, so the rules are different.
You can get away with a lot more fun things that might make
a business site look unprofessional.

As for critique - Your home page background IS a bit loud,
but I only had problems with the type where is was not
bolded, and one link at the very bottom of the page, and a
"back to top" link, both due to their color. My real problem
is the length. I would make it stop after Contact
Information. Then put the links for each section on a
separate page - you can reach them all from the table of
contents if your contents list is turned into links to the
pages. If you don't do that, at the very least, link each
item in the table of contents down the page to the
appropriate section (look up how to do anchor tags). You do
need to try some other formats beside centering everything,
though, on other pages, not just this one.

I REALLY enjoyed you travel section the most! The music
works very well there, and so do the backgrounds. One
suggestions would be that you find a way to shorten the
Italian page so the background does not tile - it is such a
wonderful picture! There may be something wrong with
"Welcome to the Emerald Isle", it crashed my browser.

You asked about navigation - yes you need more. For one,
art.html has no way out, and many others had only one link
all the way back to home page.
Scotlinks.html is very difficult to read with the black
letters on deep red. Maybe if a surfer have fewer colors
available on their machine it looks better. But it made me
dizzy to try to read it so I did not.

Hope this gives you a place to start without scaring you
away. I did have fun at your site.
Ann
