Verdana is native to Mac. What is native to "nix" platforms?

I don't care for the font, verdana is popular, as well as arial, plus I
think they look better.
Plus they work on most platforms, well, arial does anyway. Verdana is not
native to
the *nix platforms, I don't know about Mac.
