Netscape/Explorer incompatibilities?

I need some quick guidance...

Is there a trick to get a muted background image placed in the first table
of nestled tables to appear evenly with Netscape? It works beautifully on
Explorer, but I'm having *fits* trying to get it to come through correctly
on Netscape - EEEeeeeeeewww... what a mess!
