In regards to the recent Starr/Killian fray:

I think we can all agree, as some have suggested that business is ruthless.
However, if we even want to pretend at being professional, might we not try
to rise above that and treat each other with respect? Many of you have said,
in effect, this is the way it is. But you know what? It's not that way
everywhere. It's certainly not the way I was raised. There are places in the
world where people are polite and treat others as they would wish to be
treated themselves.

In the most simple terms, Killian was rude to Starr. You could describe it
in terms more forceful than that, or say that it was a critique, but the
fact is that constructive criticism does not have to hurt, and can be
delivered with respect, politeness, and good humour too.

Why don't we try to rise above the status quo and treat everyone better.
Starr doesn't deserve extra respect because she's 16, she simply deserves
the same amount of respect every person does - you, me, and even Killian.
;-) If we start thinking in terms of "extra" for some people, that's an
indication that there isn't enough being given to all of us.
