For me, "professional" also means a clean, uncluttered look. Also graphics
that are anti-aliased, a coherent "look" from page to page.

One thing I have noticed - not sure I agree with it, or like it - but most
of the pages I have seen that I thought looked professional - did not have a
real sense of humour to them. That doesn't mean that they didn't have
personality, but one person's humour may not appeal to others, especially
cross-culturally. So it's often best to avoid using humour - unless it's
absolutely integral to the aim of the website.

Case in point - I think I have a quirky sense of humour - other people think
I am just weird! ;-)
