I think the advice on this list previously was to use alt=3D"  " and not =
alt=3D"", if you want it skipped by screen readers.

Ah... I see your point. Usually, I make a habit out of filling in all =
the alt tags if there is something to report. (at my work, we are =
required to be 508 compliant)=20

If you have something like a "spacer.gif" file for layout purposes and =
don't have an alt=3D"" in the <img> tag, a screen reader (we test with =
JAWS) will literally read out loud "image" (or something like that) for =
every one of the spacer.gif files referred to in the html. So I only put =
text in the alt tag if there is text in the image, or unless the picture =
needs explanation. But every image file I like to will have at least =
alt=3D"".

I will double check them before the site is complete, though.=20
