Some questions about this list

Hello all.

I've recently joined the HWG mailing lists, after updating my trial
membership.

Having been a web designer (with lousy graphics skills :) ) for some time, I
thought I'd take a look at some of the posts at HWG.

This list (hwg-critique) seemed to catch my eye.

Looking through the archive list, I looked at most of the sites which were
asking for critique, and noticed that very few passed validation at
http://validator.w3.org.

Is this a concern for the critique of sites on this mailing list, or is the
critique mainly for appearance and navigability?
