Portable Document Format (text and graphics)
The key to pdfs is that with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader,
the same pdf file can be read by pc, mac, unix, etc.
You will find, for example, that tax forms available on the web
are in pdf format, so anyone with any computer (and the AA Reader)
can read the same file. The file is "portable"
The Reader is free at the Adobe site. However, the Distiller
(which makes the pdf files) costs $.
