<<Abandoning text means giving up score points in the search

engines, taxing the patience of your slow-modem users, and

interfering with the text-to-speech programs used by sight-impaired

users.>>

Doesn't using the "alt" tag do the same thing for the text-to-speech, etc? And
what about the background colored keyworrds, or am I still missing the pont?

<<So, you'd do well to make #1 your preferred font, #2 an

acceptable and widely available alternative (eg, Arial), and #3 a

generic designation (eg, sans-serif).>>

That would be kind of hard with the font I used, since it is a hand-drawn
variation, and set indiviaully! ;-)

<<Unless there's a truly compelling reason, it is a good idea

not to interfere with default settings. Too many users are already

easily confused; why make life more difficult?>>

I have never thought of this as a problem. Do others agree?

<<Much more useful

would be to have a set of the major links at the bottom of each page,

rather than forcing the user to keep bouncing back to a hub.>>

I do this with most of my pages, and will consider it for this one.

<<Issue 1 of SewZine (or is it Sew-Zine; I saw both, and consistency is

one of my favorite hobgoblins) is interesting.>>

I will look into that and change it. Thanks! I thought I had caught all of
those.

<<Incidentally,

splitting out the articles would allow you to dispense with the PDFs

in SewZine, since you could get practically the same results by

treating each article's HTML file with appropriate images.>>

Yes, but then I would not be preparing my readers for the classes, which
require Acrobat for the lessons! And you did notice that the 'Zine was
available in text right there, so they have a choice...?

<<You might consider setting up a page for new users, to help

them get used to Forum's controls, which can be daunting.>>

Thank you, good idea, I will look into that.

Any other comments? I have some time over Christmas, and will be updating the
pages before A write-up in a major magazine in January. Any suggestions WILL
be taken seriously! <VBG>
