Hi Guido,
I looked at your site on N3.01 and MSIE 3.02, at 800x600 and 640x480, on
a 28.8 modem. The site seemed like a good idea, but I couldn't
understand much of it heheh =)
IMHO,
At 800x600, the menu seems too small. I could hardly read it, both cause
of the size, and the color, which doesn't stand out that much in black.
Also, the B&W image seemed kinda blurry. It loaded quick, but you lost
quality by reducing the size of it. It has little definition, looks ilke
a small picture that's been stretched out too much. You know what I
would do? I'd just use that titel.jpg (the color image) as part of the
presentation. Give your page a bit of color, and adjust the color of the
menu to one of the colors on the image. No need for that effect, the
color image looks awesome. =)
The title of the page could be translated into english? (and added on
the <title> tag maybe?) If I saw your site say on a search engine, I
would just dismiss it as "yet another foreign site," and move on,
without even knowing what it's all about, or that there is an english
version =) In general, the feel of the site is that you are making some
versions in english by convention, but you are sort of alienating those
who don't speak german. It is fine to make an all-german site, of
course, but i guess what I'm trying to say is that it is a waste to work
on english translations, and then not make others aware that they exist.
If you want to keep it al german that can be done, but then focus on
your german audience. =)
Also, there is a java script error when you click "23:40 Beginn Hilfe"
(which i have no idea what that means).
At 600x480
The front page image is *huge* and even more blurry. Also you have those
ugly side bars around it. An image thats there by itself should have no
bars anywhere around it. My veredict : make it smaller dimensions-wise,
but keep it at the same size bytes-wise.
Another suggestion : make a no-frames version for people who run low-end
browsers? =) I couldn't understand your message for ppl who don't run
frames, but it seemed you asked them to get a newer browser... Some
people (as I learned) hate frames, and some others can't run newer
browsers on their systems. Also, if you really want people to get a
newer browser, point them to the netscape or msie sites.
Overall, I couldn't understand much of it *grin* but it seemed like a
nice work in progress. Just make sure you don't alienate ppl b/c of the
language or their browsers; while ppl like myself don't really care,
some people will hate your site if you even mention the idea of getting
another browser =P
Happy New Year! =)
