Simplicity! there are only a few things that bother me.
First, both the angel and the header text are really
thin/disappear against the grey background. Also, blinking
text is arguably one of the most annoying things i run
across on the web, i would suggest using another method to
emphasize that text.

I like the second one better, if only because it is not on
the grey. Put the header title on that page, center the
images with text down below, and make the text links as
well as the images. You have a good start here, if you
