South American Imports--redesign

I'm creating splash pages for a redesign of a client and would like
some feedback...therefore I'm posting here.  ;)

My splash (BOTH ARE IN PROGRESS--SEE BELOW):

I'm interested in download times, different browsers, and color
schemes.  please be aware that the links do not go anywhere and these
splashes are far from complete.  :)  I also realize the graphics are
choppy...but I don't want to "finalize" them until I get feedback both
from the list and the client.

Oh, and Killian, if ya haven't been booted from the list yet, I'd
appreciate a private (not sent to the list) response.  :)
