sorry but I completely disagree with you

Photoshop, Notepad and Flash are all you need IMHO

Photoshop will give you everything you need to do
image maps, image compression, etc

Notepad - web designers cannot keep up if they code by
hand (paraphrasing) I use notepad and I haven't found
anyone yet that can write pages as fast as me (ooooh a
challenge! - no I'm far too busy!) Flash will do
lovely vector graphics and shockwave.


but I do agree with you that there are an increasing
number of skills a web designer needs (and more hours
in the day to learn them!)
